Your Questions About Symptoms Of Ovarian Cysts During Ovulation

Sandy asks…

Has anyone experienced ovulation symptoms while on your period?

TMI!! I am on CD2 and my cervix is soft high and open, like during ovulation, but I’m on my period…does this ever happen to anyone? What is the reason? I have a doctor appointment scheduled for Monday, and plan to ask…but just wondering if anyone else has experienced this?

I was also diagnosed over a year ago with ovarian cysts, and have been TTC, but now are waiting because symptoms have returned from the cysts…long story short I was put on b/c pills after diagnosis for a few months, then stopped and everything was fine…no pain and regular lighter periods…now pain again, and heavy periods. I had a missed miscarriage at the end of October and since my cycle in November I have been feeling the same pains as before my diagnosis.

I am going to the doctor to have an internal ultrasound to check and make sure the cysts have not returned, and that everything else is ok also. My boyfriend and I have decided to wait on TTC until after we find out if everything is ok.
I track my cycle length and I know when I ovulate, so I’m almost positive that it’s not a luteal phase defect and I am actually ovulating DURING my period.
Thanks for the response! I have read TCOYF, though not thoroughly, just skimmed…I might just pick it back up again!

Clare answers:

Only a very small percentage of women ovulate during their period. If you’re among them then that would explain the position of your cervix. I think you’re doing the right thing to wait on TTC until you get a clean bill of health from your ob/gyn. I hope all goes well for you.

I recommend the book “Ovarian Cyst Miracle” – helps to cure ovarian cysts and to avoid them from coming back. It also helps to pull together your reproductive health in general.
